Pottery Professional Course

Level 1 (Basic, Terracotta Clay)

Duration: 10 sessions (2 hours each)
Type: Professional Pottery Course – Basic Level

Start your pottery journey with this beginner-friendly course designed to build a strong foundation in working with terracotta clay. Across 10 guided sessions, you’ll explore both handbuilding and wheel-based techniques while developing confidence and skill.

What You’ll Do:

  • Learn the basics of pottery and clay preparation
  • Explore handbuilding methods such as pinching, coiling, and slab work
  • Get introduced to wheel work and learn to control wheel speed
  • Practice trimming and attaching handles
  • Use pottery tools and even common household items creatively
  • Understand surface carving and cut-through carving techniques
  • Gain knowledge of different types of clay

Please Note:

  • All pieces made during this course can be taken home
  • Baking/firing is not included in Level 1
  • Baking can be arranged later at an additional charge, depending on kiln space.

Level 2 (Intermediate, Stoneware Clay)

Duration: 15 sessions (2 hours each)
Type: Professional Pottery Course – Intermediate Level

Step into the next stage of your pottery journey with stoneware clay. This course is designed for those who already know the basics and are ready to refine their skills, create larger forms, and understand the firing process in greater depth.

What You’ll Do:

  • Get introduced to stoneware clay
  • Explore advanced handbuilding techniques
  • Spend extended time practicing on the wheel
  • Learn to create larger and taller forms, including:
    • Hump throwing
    • Tall pieces joined in three parts
    • Double brims
    • Doughnut forms
    • Plates and bowls
  • Practice making objects of the same shape and size
  • Understand bisque firing and learn to identify when pots are ready
  • If possible, participate in loading the kiln for firing

Please Note:

  • All pieces you make during the course can be taken home.
  • Firing and glazing charges are not included in the course fee.
  • These are additional and calculated based on the number of pieces and kiln space used. 
  • Firing is done as a group firing only, once all pieces are fully dried. Individual firing is not available.

Level 3 (Advanced: Glazing, Underglaze, Stains)

Duration: 10 sessions (2 hours each)
Type: Professional Pottery Course – Advanced Level

Take your pottery practice to the final stage with this advanced course focused on glazing and decoration techniques. In this level, you’ll work on bisque-fired pieces and learn how to transform them using glazes, underglazes, and stains.

What You’ll Do:

  • Understand what glaze is and how it works
  • Explore different glaze application methods
  • Use underglazes and stains for creative decoration
  • Prepare bisque-fired pieces for glazing
  • Learn the glaze firing process and how glazes react in the kiln
  • (If possible) take part in kiln loading during group firings

Please Note:

  • All glazed pieces you make during the course will be glaze-fired in the kiln.
  • You may take home all completed pieces after firing.
  • Firing and glazing charges are not included in the course fee.
  • These are additional and depend on the number of pieces and kiln space used.
  • Additional clay can be purchased separately if you wish to create pieces at home.
  • Firing is always conducted as group firing only; individual firing is not available.
